first of all: ignited my sealing wax stick and oh my GOD. i was unprepared for the thick glorious texture of real sealing wax. it's not thin and greasy and brittle like even good candles are, nope. this shit flows like immaculate congealed blood and i'm in love. and when dried it's flexible holy shit. i put a drop on my skin in what was an attempt to put enough on my skin to create a wax seal there buuuut chickened out after one drop, because as it turns out sealing-wax is MUCH HOTTER than candle wax. woop. but i still wanna do that. just with candle wax instead. besides this shit's too expensive to waste on weird sensation play :p also bb saw me like [non sexually] jizzing over how fucking good that wax looks and smells and feels and just said "you're a beautiful weirdo" lololol thank u. and now i have a tiny bead drop burn on my arm but i regret nothing because it looked like A GORGEOUS BEAD OF PEARLESCENT BLOOD COMING FROM MY ARM UGH GORGEOUS. so kink. so fucking kink and not even in a sexual manner at all just ENORMOUSLY PLEASING to my senses of sight and touch. augh. so good. gonna make my own wax seal stamps eventually with my own sigils and runes and stuff.
also speaking of runes. want to get a lot more into Futhark runes. need a set of bone runes ASAP. if i had a dremel i'd make my own right now with knucklebones but i don't so :v anyway there's a rune in particular, Thurisaz, that has always called to me, but lately the call has become very loud. probably obvious because it literally translates to Thorn. but when i look into it the resonance gets a lot louder. a lot of people fear or dislike this rune because of its negative associations. people liken it to The Devil tarot card. other translations include 'monster', 'wildfire', 'demon' etc. also associated with chaos and therefore sometimes, Loki. which... heh. and it's often associated with Mjolnir, which is a thing Hiccup wants us to have for him to wear eventually. so. ye.
also everything people are saying about the way Thurisaz forces you to deal with your problems... so So SOOOO fucking Order of the Thorn it blows my mind. another reason this rune calls to me. it's a symbol of CHANGE. something i've dealt with so much the last few years and i'm sure that won't stop anytime soon.
a LOT of sources like to sugar-coat the less well liked and/or 'dangerous' symbols, stones, colors sigils etc by saying they're for "protection". but in this case it actually makes lots of sense, being Thorn of course.
some info from various sources on Thurisaz:
Spiritually, Thurisaz is a dangerous rune, representing natural forces that can damage or kill. The Icelandic and Norse poems warn of the dangers to women who should be especially careful with it. Thurisaz is the rune of chaos, sudden danger, attack, weapons, hostility, war, pain, harm and wounding. It relates to disagreement, conflict and violent confrontation. Injuries fall under Thurisaz, as do forced separation, violent passion, anger, uncontrolled emotions, wildfire and volcanic activity.
In divination Thurisaz represents harmful obsessions, including sexual ones, reaction force, destructive force, conflict, instinctive behaviour, male sexuality and a changeable nature.. It can also signify the will or motivation to change. It can be a warning of impending disruption, but at the same time act as a helping, balancing force to overcome the forthcoming difficulty
The obstacles represented by Thurisaz are not always damaging. They may appear in your cast for the purpose of strengthening your determination and helping you to understand. In this context, Thurisaz epitomises the adage "there's no gain without pain". It therefore exhorts you to go with the flow and allow yourself to experience all that life offers. What may at first appear to be a negative, destructive event, may well turn out to contain an important lesson.
Thurisaz is also held by some to be the gateway rune. It can represents powerful forces available for your use. The decision you have to make - the gateway facing both ways - is how to use them. Thurisaz exhorts you to choose your path and take action before it is too late. Which path will you choose? What force will you employ - attack or defence? This is the problem with Thurisaz- the chaotic element that makes it so dangerous and difficult to deal with.
Thurisaz is at its most dangerous when it is not noticed or acknowledged. It will insidiously worm its way into the situation, erupt into your life uninvited, and do its worst. So you must be careful to take Thurisaz seriously and afford it the due attention it deserves in any cast.
You may wish to regard Thurisaz as being about the rationalisation of opposites. On the one hand you have the Frost Giants and their assault on Asgaard, and on the other you have Thor with his hammer constantly warding them off. Both these aspects represent the raw force of the rune, and both may be harnessed in their different ways. In this context, consider also the danger of unchecked male sexuality contrasted with the protective quality of Thurisaz as symbolised by the Blackthorn tree. The point being that a balance must be drawn to avoid chaotic consequences
Thurisaz reversed is hardly any more rewarding. It can mean being defenceless, indecision, compulsion, betrayal, evil, malice, hatred, torment, spite, lies, or it can represent a person with evil intent.
Magically, Thurisaz in not a safe rune for ritual or spells. It may be used to deploy destructive or defensive forces, but the method is fraught with difficulty. I tend to avoid its use in bindrunes for fear of invoking unwanted uncontrollable forces. I will occasionally combine it with other runes in an unempowered bindrune to represent someone's initials.
Thurisaz is a rune of Fire and is associated with the Sapphire gemstone, the Blackthorn and the Oak trees. Its herb is the houseleek and its color is red. Its polarity is male and it represents the god Thor and his hammer, Mjöllnir and a thorn or thorn-bush. Some say it is also associated with Loki, but in my opinion Ansuz is a more appropriate rune for that trickster. There is some disagreement amongst the Tarot experts I consulted. A majority equate Thurisaz to the Emperor, but there was significant support also for the Chariot.

My Notes:
It’s not uncommon for the rune meaning of Thurisaz to be described as a thorn that is most sharp, a grim and evil thing to take grip on or touch. However, it is representative of Thor and his hammer, protecting Asgard from the thurses, giants who resist the expansion of consciousness throughout the multiverse. In every respect, the energies of Thurisaz are a forceful enemy of unconsciousness, ignorance and the rule of brute violence. Thurisaz represents the warrior that combines consciousness and wisdom with matters requiring force. Thor is the champion god of courageous and free human beings and the ultimate physical fighting force.
Thurisaz is also a fertility rune in the sense that it breaks down the barren and hard, rocky realms into workable soil as to bring fruitfulness to crops and wombs. The best mental state for working with the rune is enthusiasm, rather than anger or fear, as the former will much better sustain right awareness and diminish the potential danger of dealing with strong Thurisaz magic.
This early rune is representative of the use of tools and technology (so is KENAZ, to an extent), whether physical or psychological, especially as weapons of protection or active resistance against forces detrimental to the expansion of consciousness and awareness signified by DAGAZ. Human consciousness is a state of mind that evolved from pre-existing state of unconscious which continually strives to re-establish itself. Unless we promote consciousness actively in living out our lives we will succumb to entropy.
The power of Thurisaz is easily located because it is on the borderline, the frontier of consciousness. It is wise to never start a fight, but if one has started, be sure to finish it.
