went and used what I think was my last gift card from xmas, at Michael's. they had full sized toned paper sketchbooks!!! the brand I like!! i've almost gone all the way through my tiny grey paper one, and they had those... IN FULL SIZE. 9 BY 12 INCHES HOLY CRAP. full "canvas" colored paper. i'm so hyped. so i got that and the tan one, i've never been able to even find the toned tan paper before, in 9x12, and found a little sketchbook of black paper on the cheap, for gel pens. got those three [two $14 sketchbooks and one cheap $2 one] and one little glass vial for herbs or witchin' or what have you, and spent... a whopping $1.50!!! hell yes. over $30 worth of stuff - the girl at the counter was really nice and while talking with me, surreptitiously scanned a coupon for me that i might not actually have earned :>. thank u.
found a wheat penny last night, i probably have over a dollar's worth of them now. it's awesome. i still collect every one i get, because i always have a penny or two on me that i can exchange it for. and i also found something way better... a Deutsche Mark!!! a one-Mark coin. german money from before Reunification [coin's dated 1986, so this is specifically West German money] and before the Euro. so so cool. was just talking to one of my regular customers, a trucker who lived in germany for quite a few years back then, about how i'd love to get some old Marks. and now i have some in my collection!! very cool.
i should make a map of all the places in my coin collection so far. have some really cool ones like the soviet union, hong kong, Ghana, lots of ones you wouldn't immediately expect. that is one cool plus of working in retail; over the past five years loads of foreign money has just found its way to me. i still deeply regret losing my steel penny [in 1943 pennies were made the color of dimes and not copper due to a war shortage], even dreamed about it last night. but they're not that rare, and i can find or buy myself another one.
the family is going to discovery place tomorrow, and i really want to go with them but A- not sure when/if they'll be home in time for me to get to work, and B- work's been stressing me out, I could use some down time before the madness of new year's eve shift. also bb will be gone for most of the day tomorrow, so i'll just be chilling out by myself. it's good. i really want to go see the dinosaur exhibit before it's gone though :[ maybe i can go by myself or with bb sometime. going without the whole family dragging behind is actually a lot more fun, i realized when i went by myself the first time.
work was indeed rough last night. the whole weekend was rough. my voice continues to be unstable and phlegmy, and work irritates it really badly. [i made myself so sick of hot tea with honey and lemon at work last night, drank so many cups to stabilize and ease my voice.] but every day it feels a little bit better. and i'm off tonight so i plan to just chill out and work on art the whole time 8D
